CERTIFICATE II IN AGRICULTURE

Course Code AHC20122

Certificate II in Agriculture: Provides an entry-level occupational outcome in agriculture. It aims to equip students with the experience, skills & knowledge that will enhance employment prospects in a variety of rural industries. Students enrolled in this course will develop skills across a range of areas including, but not limited to, safety, handling livestock, fencing, farm chemicals & operating basic machinery & equipment.

Contribution Towards VCE: VM
A Certificate II or above VET course is mandatory for students studying VCE: VM. 180 nominal hours or above = 2 VET credits

Contribution Towards VPC

Every 90 nominal hours of VET = 1 unit of credit.

Contribution Towards VCE
Students are eligible for up to six VCE VET units on their VCE statement of results:

  • four VCE VET units at Units 1 & 2 level
  • a VCE VET Unit 3 – 4 sequence

ATAR Contribution
Students who receive a Units 3 & 4 sequence will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the fourth study score of the primary four studies).

School to Work

Structured Workplace Learning is recommended.

Units may include:

  • Participate in work health & safety processes
  • Handle livestock using basic techniques
  • Collect & record production data
  • Provide feed for livestock
  • Operate basic machinery & equipment

Note: Units of Competency are subject to change

PPE & Other Equipment
Closed boots & appropriate clothing for weather required.

Additional Requirements
Students must undertake a pre-training review & a Language, Literacy & Numeracy evaluation.
